In 1969 the band Blue Mink had a debut hit with Melting Pot, which reached #3 in the UK charts and our world seemed full of hope. We children of the '60s still basked in the warmth of summer '67; the 'summer of love'. I still have the vinyl.
That late sixties dream of Blue Mink's Melting Pot has become a nightmare that now sweeps our continent and a large slice of the world. My writing was given impetus by the sad passing of some outstanding stars of my sixties generation, earlier this year.
