Story behind the song
I had a friend who was dying from brain cancer. I visited him regularly throughout the process. I went through from the time he found out through his time in hospice, until he died.
Lyrics
Don't Weep for Me
I sat by a friend who was dying
I did not know what I should do
Was there something I could get him
Could I read him a verse or two
I shed some tears for what could have been
Thought of the times we laughed and cried
And we talked of things we'd bot been through
Things we'd seen done conquered and tried
He said "Don't weep for me
When I go to sleep
And wake on heaven's shore"
He said "Don't weep for me
When I go to sleep
Cause I won't have pain anymore
He was feeling so tired and weary
He said "My time is close at hand.
Soon I hope this fight will be over
By my Savior's side I'll stand."
He said "Don't weep for me
When I go to sleep
And wake on heaven's shore"
He said "Don't weep for me
When I go to sleep
Cause I won't have pain anymore."
He said "Don't weep for me
When I go to sleep
And wake on heaven's shore"
He said "Don't weep for me
When I go to sleep
Cause I won't have pain anymore."
